Towards the end of the 70’s, the militants of MIR exiled in Europe, decided to return to Chile in order to support the fight against the military dictatorship. The ones who could would help through legal means, others through clandestinely. Many had children and couldn’t return with them. So the idea of a community center to shelter these children was born. Project Home gathered 60 kids that were left to the care of 20 people who assumed the responsibility of their upbringing for the years to come. We retrace the director’s footsteps from Europe to Cuba to piece together a childhood that shaped the rest of her life.
A fines de los setenta los militantes del Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria (MIR), exiliados en Europa, regresaron a Chile a luchar clandestinamente contra la dictadura. Muchos tenían hijos que no podrían llevar con ellos. Así nació el Proyecto Hogares, un espacio de vida comunitaria que reunió cerca de sesenta niños que fueron cuidados por veinte adultos, llamados Padres Sociales. Esta es la honesta y sentimental historia de un pedazo de la vida de la cineasta Macarena Aguiló que nos lleva desde Europa y hasta Cuba recolectando pedazos de su niñez y los eventos que marcaron el resto de su vida.
